The c.cure.ity blanket, a
quilt project launched last month to raise money for cancer
research, patient education and care at Princess Margaret
Hospital, Canada’s leading cancer research hospital.
We would like to get the word out about this special project to
the quilting community. This is a great quilt that bears a lot
of meaning, especially to those who have been touched by cancer.
One family’s fight against cancer has created a tangible symbol
of hope – the “c.cure.ity.blanket”
The c.cure.ity blanket is a
beautifully patterned quilt that incorporates a mosaic of
different coloured ribbons people wear to support a form of
cancer. There are 233 ribbons in total.
The quilt project began when Mary Chiarot, a breast cancer
survivor, and her son, Cameron, decided to build cancer
awareness while providing the love, comfort, and warmth that
comes from a childhood security blanket.
Measuring 165 cm x 128 cm, the c.cure.ity
blanket fits both single- and double-sized beds. The quilt can
be for $150 each (plus shipping, handling and taxes) or by phone
at 1-866-937-7643 (toll free) or 416-946-6560. They are also on
promotion for $150 (tax included) when purchased in person at
the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation office, located at 700
University Avenue (8th floor) in Toronto.
All proceeds from sales will support cancer research, education
and patient care at Princess Margaret Hospital, Canada’s leading
cancer research hospital.
