Pieces of Soul
Nature reaches deep into my being and touching my soul, demands expression. In particular, trees symbolize the divine for me and encourages intimate creativity. My spirit responds to that
divinity, is guided by and replenishes through it.
I love horses too, and a canter across the fields or a walk in the woods is a healing, refreshing and inspiring experience for me. I hope that, as you stroll with me through the ambience created
by my work, you will become imbued with nature’s blessings and her messages.
I found strip piecing ( ¾") works well for composition requiring strong verticals or horizontals. Where various shape areas are needed, I use appliqué prepared on freezer paper. As a
past member of the Canadian Embroiderer’s Guild, I have a fond connection to embroidery and use it to embellish and enrich my work. Most of the work is done on the machine but the delicate
handwork gives me the connection which I can express myself most intimately and honestly. Each technique brings delight and learning.
I have benefited from many wonderful workshops but those with Janet Rice-Bredin, Gail Hunt and Lorraine Roi have been particularly stimulating and inspiring. My compositions are inspired by photos
and by my pencil and watercolour sketches.
At present six of my quilts are in other exhibitions. My work has been accepted in juried shows in Ontario and Canada and exhibited internationally.
“When the winds blow and the storms come,
BE A TREE
Firmly rooted and grounded in yourSELF.”
“When a soul is present, Nature is alive.”
“Touch the earth
Love the earth
Honour the earth
Her plains, her valleys, her hills and her seas
Rest your spirit in her solitary places.”
